At the Ruka seminar, we will hear from municipal officials about the challenges of the heated urban construction, especially regarding the construction footprint. Another expert official is Outi Mäkelä, the Mayor of Nurmijärvi, the largest municipality (population) in Finland. Nurmijärvi is undergoing continuous change – one of the challenges for the municipality, which turns 250 this year, is the positive population change. This creates investment needs in the municipality and creates a need for functional telecommunications connections.
Outi Mäkelä has served as the mayor of Nurmijärvi since 2018. Nurmijärvi is a growing municipality with 45,000 inhabitants in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, known for the Nurmijärvi phenomenon and strong industrial players such as Teknos, Anora, Premix and Roal. Nurmijärvi’s strengths include its location, educated population, strong birth rate and growth in job self-sufficiency.
